A Grand Expedition
'Last summer, with generous funding from the David C. Donelson ‘77 Fund, I embarked on a trip to Scotland, England, and Germany to see six Johannes Vermeer paintings and fulfill my grandparents’ goal of visiting all 34 confirmed paintings. In total, my grandparents had previously seen 23 of the paintings and I had seen five others. By giving me the opportunity to see the six other Vermeer paintings, this funding allowed me to successfully complete this lifelong dream of theirs. Upon returning home to my grandparents in Seattle, Washington, I brought back pictures and stories of my travels, and together we celebrated this accomplishment and their lifelong appreciation of art and fascination with Vermeer.'
