Lunch with TED & Lynda
TED talks are all about 'ideas worth spreading.' At TED, they 'believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world.' The annual TED conferences invite the most inspired thinkers and challenge them to give the talk of their lives (in 5-15 minutes). You could think of them as concentrated Convocations. Lynda.com produces training tutorials and documentaries on business issues, software training and creative pursuits. They 'believe that education is power, knowledge creates opportunity, that technology should be accessible to everyone, and that comprehensive, straightforward training can make a world of difference.' TED, Lynda, YouTube, Vimeo, and countless other sites provide valuable ways of expanding awareness and knowledge into diverse and divergent areas, including those affecting our work at the College. Come discover how and why. On Wednesdays, Academic Technologies will host an informal session showcasing TED talks and other pursuits of online learning. There will be time each week for viewing and discussion. You don’t have to show up right at noon - if you’re late, that’s OK. Feel free bring your lunch and join the conversation.
