Exotic Phases in Quantum Chromodynamics

In this talk, I will present some basic properties of the theory of the strong force, Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), and discuss some of the exotic phases that arise within the theory. QCD has a rich phase structure that we hope can explain a wide range of phenomena including the properties of neutron stars and the quark-gluon plasma that existed in the early stages of the universe. In this talk, I will discuss the origin of superfluidity, superconductivity and present some results on magnetic vortices and chiral density waves from my research.
