Muslim Jummah Prayer

Fri, March 2, 2018 • 1:00pm - 2:00pm (1h) • Chapel Main Sanctuary

Jummah (Friday) prayer is a weekly congregational prayer held throughout Muslim communities. It is an opportunity for the community to gather together, reconnect, and listen to a discourse about a relevant or pressing topic for the community, and then to worship together.

Halaqa follows Jummah prayer in the Chapel Lounge.  Halaqa, meaning gathering or study circle, is a space to join around a text and learn together. In this halaqa, we are particularly focusing on verses of the Qur'an, as well as hadith, or sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad. With these as our starting points, the discussion also extends to other topics of interest, such as gender, social justice, inner peace, cultivating compassion, and different forms of worship. It is a space to grow in knowledge and spirit together and to support one another in these endeavors.
