Windborne Concert

Tue, October 29, 2019 • 8:00pm - 10:00pm (2h) • Skinner Memorial Chapel

Windborne is a vocal folk quartet, which sings harmony music from all over the world. After singing a protest song outside Trump Tower in four part harmony a couple of years ago, the group went viral, and has since hit the road full time to spread their music and message. Having sought out, studied, and collected polyphonic vocal music for over 15 years from traditional singing masters from cultures around the world, Windborne is able to shift genres, slipping from English folk to Corsican improvised couplet songs and from 3rd century Georgian hymns to old time tunes like no band you have ever heard. With their stunningly rendered protests songs, folk tunes, and polyphonic pieces of all sorts, they are sure to give a concert to remember! The event is open to the public, and admission is free. “The best musical discovery of the year...Stunningly powerful vocal harmony in the tradition of the Watersons, The Voice Squad, and Coope, Boyes, and Simpson, Windborne sets a new bar for folk harmony singing today” -Brian O'Donovan WGBH, NPR 'Some of the finest singers of protest and folk music that I have ever heard!” -Sing Out!
