Tue, September 24, 2019 • 4:30pm - 5:45pm (1h 15m) • Leighton 305

On April 15, 2019, the world grieved as fire ravaged France’s best-known cathedral. In this round table discussion, we will discuss the symbolic importance of Notre-Dame, the current controversies it has elicited, and the plans that are emerging for its future. Speakers: Bill North, Professor of History. Scott Carpenter, Marjorie Crabb Garbisch Professor of French and the Liberal Arts Sandra Rousseau, Assistant Professor of French & Francophone Studies, and Guillaume Lacroix, Consul General of France in Chicago. Bonus: Join us as our very own Cathy Yandell (W. I. and Hulda F. Daniell Professor of French Literature, Language and Culture) is knighted in the venerable Ordre des Palmes académiques! Reception to follow.
