AmeriCorps Panel
Monday, February 17th, 5-6pm, Alumni Guest House Meeting Room; RSVP

Community Building

  • Habitat for Humanity Twin Cities - The Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity AmeriCorps members receive a living allowance to serve full-time, building strength and stability alongside homebuyer families, all while gaining real-world experience. AmeriCorps members engage with thousands of volunteers throughout the year and are integral to our mission. As an AmeriCorps member, you can serve in a leadership role on an active build site or in the office assisting families, volunteers, and staff. By taking on new challenges and seeing the results of your service, you will have the opportunity to learn, grow, and have some fun along the way.

Education

  • College Possible - College Possible is a college access and success program dedicated to supporting students from a  low-income background in attaining a college degree.  We have AmeriCorps positions that work with high school students and college students, both in-person and through technology.  Our program is designed to help students overcome barriers in their path to education including academic, social, and financial obstacles.  With students in more than 50 high schools and over 30 colleges throughout the state, we are consistently striving to meet student needs as they navigate the collegiate journey.
  • Minnesota Alliance With Youth - Young people in Minnesota are facing a graduation crisis. Nearly 1 in 5 Minnesota high school students did not graduate on time in 2018. Those who do not graduate are disproportionately lower-income students and students of color. AmeriCorps Promise Fellows support, mentor, and build positive relationships with young people in 6-12th grade on their path to high school graduation.  Fellows provide one-on-one and small group support to a focus list of students in a school or non-profit organization. This is a perfect opportunity for individuals interested in exploring a career in counseling, teaching, or youth work.
  • Minnesota Math Corps - An AmeriCorps program helping more than 5,000 Minnesota students in grades 4-8, succeed in math each year. Tutors provide evidence-based interventions to struggling students to help them build the math skills and confidence they need to succeed in high school algebra, a course correlated with graduation, college enrollment, and higher paying careers. Tutors receive rigorous training plus ongoing coaching throughout the year.
  • Minnesota Reading Corps - An AmeriCorps program that helps more than 30,000 Minnesota children, age 3 to grade 3, become successful readers each year. Tutors provide small group or one-on-one interventions to help struggling learners transform into confident students — something that translates into all areas of their life. Tutors provide consistent, daily tutoring, and receive rigorous training plus ongoing literacy coaching throughout the year.
