Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Convo Dinner
Bao Phi is an award-winning performance poet whose work focuses on racism and the Vietnamese-American experience. He was featured in the documentary feature film The Listening Project as an American listener who traveled the world to talk to everyday people about global issues and politics. Along with his creative work, Phi was nominated for a Facing Race Ambassador award in recognition for his community work and has published essays in topics from Asians in hip hop to Asian representation in video games. Both an original artist and an inspiring community activist, Phi’s work speaks about the complexities of race, especially growing up as a Vietnamese-American boy in Minnesota – with honesty, lyricism, humor, and poignant messages. This Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Convocation is sponsored by the Office of Intercultural and International Life.
