32nd Annual Late Night Trivia

Thu, March 12, 2020 • 7:00pm - 11:00pm (4h) • Remote/Sayles

Hey. Have you ever wanted fame or glory? Late Night Trivia is an annual live quiz show extravaganza that happens on Carleton’s student radio station, KRLX, 88.1 FM. For the past 32 years, teams of Carleton students have competed to answer trivia questions, complete action challenges, and identify obscure songs. On the day of the event, the Gods (students selected as organizers) set up the phones and “Heavens” in Sayles 251. The event lasts from 7pm to 11pm. Prior to the start of the event, groups of Carls call in and register themselves as a team. Two divisions exist for competitors: the trivia division -- points are scored by answering questions and identifying songs, and the spirit division -- teams commit to absurd and strange activities (that take place throughout campus) to earn points that are pretty objectively arbitrarily assigned. After 4 hours, the points are tallied and the subjects gather in the Sayles great space to hear the results. The top three teams in each division earn 3 of their members entry to “The Room of Much Pleasure,” which consists of piles of knick-knacks, random inventory, overstocked merchandise, gift certificates, stickers, branded gear, food, and weird items donated to LNT by local businesses and internal branches of Carleton. A pile is chosen and distributed among the team members. The prizes are, of course, secondary to the glory and fame that is winning Late Night Trivia and signing the trophy.
