SARAE Fall Dialogue Group

Thu, November 12, 2020 • 12:25pm - 1:25pm (1h)

All Carleton staff are welcome to join the SARAE group for dialogue centering issues of racism. Our fall series will consist of dialogue events in weeks 5, 7, & 9, with the theme: Historical context of racism in the US & at Carleton. No previous experience discussing racism is required, and you can attend any of the events that fit your schedule.

Visit the Carleton Staff webpage for more information about SARAE, and to access the article for this meeting. We will be discussing the article America Wasn't a Democracy, Until Black Americans Made It One by Nikole Hannah-Jones of the New York Times. Don't have a New York Times subscription? Get free access via the Carleton Library here! Make sure to read the article before attending the dialogue. We look forward to seeing you there.

This week's article is part of an essay collection from the New York Times 1619 project. The 1619 project also includes a podcast series, which we encourage you to listen to on your own, but we will be focusing on the article linked above for this discussion.
