Arboretum Volunteer Work Event - River Clean Up

Clean up of the Cannon River - remove trash and debris!

Help improve the river for fish and other living things!

Participate in this joint activity with the Cannon River Watershed Partnership to help clean up the Cannon River. The past six cleanups have resulted in approximately 109,900 pounds of trash and debris being removed from the Straight River, Cannon River, Shields Lake and Waterville area waterways. Since our first annual cleanup 1,476 people have worked more than 3,600 hours cleaning up the rivers and lakes, making recreation more enjoyable and improving habitat for wildlife. Meet at the entrance to the Lower Arboretum near Carleton's West Gym. Bring your favorite pair of work gloves, or use a pair of ours. Long pants and closed toe shoes that can get wet and muddy are recommended.  This is a family friendly event; all children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.  Ages 14-17 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver before they can participate.

Getting to the meeting location:  Please note that Hwy 19 is closed just east of Carleton, and you must approach the meeting location from the west (through the Carleton campus if on foot or bicycle, or from the city of Northfield if by car.
