Native Prairie Plant and Bird Walk
Explore prairie life on a guide walking tour of several privately owned prairie remnants, including Carleton College owned McKnight Prairie. First we will visit a 260 acre property near Dennison, MN, a wonderful place to see grassland birds including grasshopper sparrow, dickcissel, meadowlark, bobolink, and the endangered Henslow's sparrow.
Our second stop will be at the 35 acre McKnight Prairie with a high diversity of native prairie plants as well as grassland birds. Both sites are protected through the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Native Prairie Bank Easement Program.
This program is free and open to the public, but space is limited and registration is required. Call or email Emily Hutchins, (507) 455-5841 or firstname.lastname@example.org
