Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Snowshoeing and Animal Tracking Field Trip in the Carleton College Arboretum.

Sunday, February 14th, 2010
2:00 – 4:00 pm

Accompany Arboretum director Nancy Braker and former Arboretum manager Myles Bakke as they search for signs and tracks of winter animal activities in the Carleton Arboretum. The field trip on Sunday, February 14, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., is free and open to the public.

While the weather may make it difficult for humans to get around, the well adapted animals in the Carleton Arboretum are quite lively this time of year. This field trip is designed to go over the basics of animal tracking and learn some identification techniques.

This will be a 2 hour walk through the snow, primarily off trail. Participants should be sure to dress for the weather. All ages and levels of snowshoeing expertise are welcome. Refreshments will be provided in the Arboretum office following the hike.

This event is limited to 20 people, so contact Nancy Braker at 507-222-4543 or by email to reserve your spot. There are some snowshoes available for use, but their number is limited and must be reserved in advance.
