Saturday, October 18th, 2008
9:00 am – 12:00 pm / Upper Arboretum

Arboretum Work Day, Saturday, October 18, 9:00 a.m. - 12 noon.Buckthorn Menace Banner -- Small

Help remove the Buckthorn Menace Environmental Art installation!  In 2007 Environmental Artist Jim Protor created the Buckthorn Menace, intended to provide a participatory art experience and help spread the word about problem plants.

Join the Arboretum Crew to remove the remains of the art installation, and additional invasive honeysuckle and buckthorn in the Upper Arboretum. Native grass and wildflower seeds will be planted in the place of the removed invaders.

Meet on the paved trail at the bridge over Spring Creek, just down the trail from the intersection of Oak and Second Streets. See map below. Bring drinking water and work gloves if you have them, wear long pants and sturdy shoes or boots. Feel free to bring your lunch to enjoy with other volunteers after the work is done.
