Insights into the Lives of Mussels

Mussels of the Cannon River - Stream-side field trip.

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010
6:00 – 8:00 pm / Arboretum

Learn about the mussels (sometimes called clams) of the Cannon River and how land and water management practices can impact them.  Our native mussels have a fascinating life history and depend on clean water and healthy populations of native fish to survive. Ever wonder how mussels reproduce, or what they eat?  Get your questions answered at this joint field trip with the Cannon River Watershed Partnership (CRWP) and the Carleton College Arboretum. Gary Wagenbach, CRWP board member and emeritus professor of biology at Carleton College, will tell all at this stream-side talk!  This field trip is free and open to the public, but please register so we know how many people to expect. Contact Nancy Braker, at nbraker@carleton.edu or 507-222-4543 to register and get directions to the meeting site.
