Summer Employment


Application Deadline: April 15, 2020.
Start date for all Arboretum positions is June 15, 2020 with ten weeks of work.  End date negotiable with supervisor based on time off taken during the summer. This is a rolling application process; we will interview and offer positions to qualified candidates as applications come in. Applications are available on the sidebar of this page.

Arboretum Crew:
Five positions are available.  Work includes removal of exotic species, herbicide application, planting maintenance,  trail maintenance, seed collecting and planting.  Crew members will learn proper chainsaw and brush saw use and maintenance, plant identification, and other field skills. Applicants must be willing to do physical work outdoors for extended periods. Questions may be directed to Arboretum Manager, Matthew Elbert.

Arboretum Research Assistant
: One position available. Provide support with plant and animal related research, inventory and monitoring projects.  Assist with preparing materials for fieldwork, data collection, data entry and analysis, and report writing. Learn to identify a diverse group of prairie plants to assist with inventory. Serve as a member of the Arboretum land management crew as needed (Approximately 20% of time).
