Multilingual/Second Language Writing Program

Our mission is to provide writing support and guidance to Carleton's English as a Second or Other Language (ESOL) students, and to help them develop as independent writers and thinkers. Multilingual students (international and U.S) may work one-on-one for an entire term with a trained and experienced writing consultant who will be available to provide  support for one to three hours per week. Writing consultants work as facilitators, collaborating with students at any stage of the writing process, and provide feedback on content, form, and language.

If English is not your main or first language and you believe you might benefit from working individually with a writing consultant, email Renata Fitzpatrick, Second Language Writing Coordinator, call her at x5998, or stop by her office in 420D on 4th Libe, through the Writing Center (across from the penguin).

If you have multilingual or ESOL students (international or domestic) who might benefit from working regularly with a writing tutor, please email, call, Renata Fitzpatrick or click here to learn more and find resources.

Visit the Second Language Writing Tutors website to submit reflective reports about tutoring experiences and strategies and participate in a forum for sharing ideas, questions and announcements, and links with the other tutors.
