Program Assistant Overview
Program Assistants help create involvement opportunities for students outside the classroom by providing a variety of social, educational, and recreational opportunities designed to enhance campus life throughout the academic year. By so doing, Program Assistants enrich the value of a Carleton education by engaging, supporting and inspiring all students to become active members of their community.
Due to the wide range of programs and events coordinated by Program Assistants, positions are listed according to the primary area of responsibility. All Program Assistants lead a specific programmatic interest area (e.g. Music & Dance, Art & Film, NSW, The Cave, etc.), receive an operating budget and manage a group of student volunteers. Collectively, Program Assistants form the Student Activities Programming Board (SAPB) serve as a student voice for activities and special events at Carleton. Additionally, Program Assistants work a few hours each week in the Student Activities Office in support of other Carleton students, staff, and faculty. Program Assistants have flexible hours, however some night and weekend hours are required.
In addition to receiving monetary compensation for their service and leadership, Program Assistants work with their supervisor in developing desired learning outcomes for their position. Through this process, Program Assistants fine tune what they hope to learn from their experience and develop an action plan to achieve their goals. By complementing what students learn in the classroom, these positions provide a wide range of opportunities for students to grow developmentally, emotionally, and socially with a better understanding of self and others, as part of a larger, global community.
Application Process for 2016-2017
For any of the below positions, if on OCS Spring term, submit application by Wednesday, February 24 (Winter Week 8). Interviews for those on OCS Spring term will be Monday - Wednesday, February 29 - March 2.

- Interviews for SAPB positions will be held Monday - Friday, April 11 - 15, 2016 (Week 3).
- Decisions will be made by Wednesday, April 20, 2016 (Week 4).
