Prison Reform Week

Students will have the opportunity to learn about the United States prison industrial complex on a state, national, and international scale.

This event takes place each day from February 14th, 2014 to February 21st, 2014.

During the course of the week, Carleton students will have the opportunity to learn about the United States prison industrial complex on a state, national, and international scale. Prison Reform Week is a collaboration between BSA, CORAL, OIIL, and the CCCE.

2/14-2/16: Alternatives to Violence Project - Weekend-long training on nonviolent conflict resolution skills and strategies.

2/17: Sarah Walker '99 - Aluma, activist, and doctoral candidate in Sociology at the Univeristy of Minnesota will be speaking on prison reforms taking place in Minnesota, including the Ban the Box Campaign at 7pm in Boliou 104 (with pizza!)

2/18: Dhamma Brothers - Documentary film about the introduction of Buddhist meditations into an Alabama prison at 7pm in Boliou 104

2/19: Chili Night - Come talk about prison reform efforts in Minnesota! at 6pm in Alumni Guest House

2/20: Dr. Steven Miles - Professor of Medicine and Bioethics at the University of Minnesota who will be speaking about interrogations tactics at American prisons abroad at 7 pm in Boliou 104 (with pizza!)

2/22: We Speak - A collection of student acts celebrating Black History Month (7pm in the Concert Hall)
