David Pape, former manager of publications and assistant to the director of public relations for the Arizona Diamondbacks, has been named Carleton College’s sports information director.

Pape spent the last nine years with Major League Baseball’s Diamondbacks, working in their public relations department. For the past nine months he's served as manager of publications for the club, helping them redesign their monthly magazine and game programs, along with numerous other responsibilities. Previous to that move, he worked as assistant to the director of public relations for the club for eight years, working all angles of media and public relations within the organization. Before joining the parent club, Pape worked for the Diamondbacks’ minor-league club, the High Desert Mavericks, leading up to the big league club's 1998 debut.

A 1997 graduate of Luther College (Iowa), Pape worked in the sports information office there for three years, was the sports editor of the school newspaper, and supervised athletic event student workers. He will be joined in his move to Carleton by his wife, Bonnie, and their new daughter, Hannah. He will begin his responsibilities at Carleton on July 30.

“We are very excited to have Dave join our media and public relations team at Carleton and I know he will make the transition to this position seamlessly,” said Eric Sieger, Carleton’s director of media and public relations. “He's very excited to work with all of our programs and coaches here at the College.” Pape replaces Sieger, who was promoted after serving as Carleton’s sports information director since September 2000.
