  • OneCard Production now in Campus Services

Need your first OneCard or a replacement card? Visit Campus Services in Sayles-Hill 5 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Residential Life is no longer involved in OneCard production so be sure to update the information your office may communicate to new employees about obtaining a OneCard. In addition, current faculty and staff who do not have a OneCard should visit Campus Services at their earliest opportunity. As the new MFPs (multifunction printers) are rolled out in offices and public labs across campus this fall, you will need your OneCard to release your copy jobs.

  • Grounds Projects in August

The following maintenance activities will take place on the grounds during the month of August:

    • Weed spraying: The campus will be chemically treated for broadleaf weeds during the week of August 13. More areas will be sprayed than usual this year because of two consecutive seasons of hot and dry weather conditions. Areas will be posted prior to and after treatment.
    • Tree Removal: Many trees are showing signs of decline due to the weather conditions, particularly sugar maple trees. A number of those tree will be removed before students return. We will continue our regular replanting program later in the fall.
    • Paving and concrete repair: There are no major repair or replacement projects planned for roads or sidewalks at this time.

  • Check out the Newest Equipment at the Rec. Center

Come try the new Functional Training Equipment at the Recreation Center. Most fitness equipment uses linear training, moving the body in a single plane. Fitness experts now recommend functional strength training to enhance coordination, muscular strength and endurance, and ultimately help build a body better able to meet the challenges of sports and everyday movements. Functional training focuses on exercising multiple muscles and joints together, emphasizing the core muscles as stabilizers. Contact Lynda Grady Schweich at lgrady@carleton.edu to schedule a time to work with a LifeStyles Trainer who can demonstrate the primary exercises utilizing the Functional Training Equipment. See the attached for photos.
