Becky Fineran-Gardner has been appointed director of Summer Academic Programs. Following a model very similar to that used in the off-campus studies office, Becky will report to the Dean of the College Office through an associate dean, and each summer program will have a faculty director. Professor Clifford Clark, long time Summer Academic Programs director, is on leave this year; he has agreed to return for the 2004-05 academic year and the summer of 2005 to help facilitate the transition to the new administrative structure.

Courtney Colby ’03 has been appointed administrative assistant to the director of Summer Academic Programs. Courtney came to Carleton from Minnetonka and majored in history with a concentration in East Asian studies. At Carleton she worked in a variety of jobs, including office assistant in Campus Activities and interning in the Archives; since Carleton she has worked as a supervisor at a photography studio and as evening shift supervisor in the Gould library. In addition to her responsibilities in summer academic programs, Courtney will continue her work in the library. She can be reached by phone at x4038; e-mail ccolby2@acs.carleton.edu; or by mail at 4-HOPPIN.

I am very pleased to announce several important changes in College Relations. The Web Production office has been renamed the Office of Web Communications and Development, to more accurately reflect its work on campus and to recognize the important role team members play in providing the College with top-notch web marketing services.

Brian Koranda, now Web Producer, becomes Director of Web Communications and Development, and Matt Ryan will hold the title of Associate Director of Web Communications and Development.

Brian, Matt, intern Jason Oswald, and their team of talented students design and manage high quality Web communications projects for a wide variety of campus clients. They do so with consideration for institutional priorities, departmental objectives, comprehensive marketing communication strategies for traditional and new media, and institutional identity. They collaborate with Information Technology Services (ITS) and with other College Relations staff in providing an integrated experience across various media, including print, Web, e-mail, and news publications.

These changes are effective immediately. Please join me in thanking all our Web team members for their terrific work.
