  • New PERC Coordinator Hired

The Program in Ethical Reflection at Carleton (PERC) is pleased to announce that Reverand Doug Mork '87 accepted the position of our new director and is off to a great start!

The Program in Ethical Reflection at Carleton (PERC) is pleased to announce that Reverand Doug Mork '87 accepted the position of our new director and is off to a great start! At Carleton, Doug was a physics-turned-religion major, active in South African divestment issues and music. After college, he became a union organizer in Florida for six years before returning to Minnesota to attend Luther Seminary. For another six years, Doug served as pastor of a Lutheran church in St Paul, helping it become fully integrated with a Latino congregation. In addition to his part-time PERC work, Doug is working now as the associate pastor and director of social justice ministries of an Episcopal church in Burnsville and as lead organizer with the Twin Cities Religion and Labor Network which he helped to found. We are very pleased to have someone of Doug’s caliber leading PERC and hope you can join us in welcoming him back.

PERC is beginning its third year of donor-funded work on campus, helping to expand and deepen ethical reflection both within and outside of the classroom. PERC coordinates a speaker series on ethical issues, offers curriculum development grants and seminars to faculty, and facilitates the "Ask the Ethicist" columns in the Carletonian. This year, the PERC advisory committee will also be assessing PERC’s direction for the future and welcomes faculty, staff, and student input.

  • Update on Printed Directory of Faculty and Staff

Read on if you are interested in learning about the plans for an updated printed directory of faculty and staff for the 2004-05 academic year.

    Full Content

Read on if you are interested in learning about the plans for an updated printed directory of faculty and staff for the 2004-05 academic year.

A printed directory of faculty and staff will be compiled in early September. When the directory is available, a notice will be included in Currently@Carleton with directions on how to obtain a copy. Please do not request a copy in advance.

The directory will lead off with improved Quick Reference pages which merge academic and administrative offices in alphabetical order, with phone extensions and building locations listed for these main offices. Brief faculty and staff listings with name, phone extension, and title will follow after each department/office listing.

The rest of the directory will be more detailed with faculty and staff in alphabetical order with title, office, mail stop, home address, and home telephone number.

Please keep in mind that using the on-line campus Web directory will provide you the best and most current information throughout the year. It can be accessed at: http://www.carleton.edu/campus/directory/index.php

Make it a bookmark on your browser or add it as an icon on your desktop for quick access whenever you need it.

If you need help setting this up, contact your Administrative or Academic Computing Coordinator.

  • Reunion Planning Workshop

What a great weekend! More than 150 alumni, representing the classes of 1950 through 2000 were on campus August 20-21 to plan Reunion 2005. Everyone had a good time and we received many compliments on how Carleton seems better than ever. Thank you to the following offices for their wonderful support: Facilities, Security, College Relations, Campus Activities, the Development Office, Residential Life, Custodial Services, Rec Center, President's Office, Nutting House, Switchboard, Bookstore, Sodexho, and those who work and office in the Language and Dining Center. Your time and energy made the workshop a productive and fun event, which is beneficial for the College now and in the future. Also, thank you, in advance, for your help when over 100 volunteers return to campus for the Alumni Stewardship Workshop on September 10. We look forward to working with you again.
