Bon Appétit at Carleton College is fighting food waste and hunger by recovering surplus perishable food from our campus that would otherwise go to waste and donating it to people in need through Whispers of Hope in Faribault, A Childs Delight in Faribault, The Alternative Learning Center of Northfield and Greenvale Community School in Northfield. Since 2014 Bon Appétit has been partnering with Carleton student volunteers who are members of the Carleton Food Recovery Network.

Dining Board meets every other Thursday beginning January 14. Dining Board is a committee composed of students appointed by CSA Senate and staff from Dining Services, Auxiliary Services, and Residential Life. The purpose of Dining Board is to discuss any and all issues related to the resident board program. Menus, nutrition, service, meal plans, local food, and sustainability are common topics. The meetings are open to anyone in the community and are advertised in advance in the NNB and the College events calendar. Winter Term Dining Board meetings will be held in the Class of '51 Room in LDC.

Taste of the Tropics Week in Burton Dining Hall. Join us for lunch January 11-15 in Burton. Menu items featured throughout the week include Braised Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Caribbean Spiced Shrimp with Pineapple Salsa Pizza, and Hawaiian Cashew Curried Chicken Salad Wraps.

Do you think you have the best bowl of chili? Have you ever wanted the chance to cook with the Bon Appetit chefs? Now is your chance! LDC is hosting a chili cook-off! Four teams of two will put their chili cooking skills to the test. Teams will have the chance to serve their chili to Carleton students on Monday, January 25 at dinner from 4:45 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The winning chili will be featured at Burton, LDC and Sayles. Tucked into the Commons at the Weitz Center for Creativity is the Weitz Café. Open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the Weitz Café has prepared sandwiches and salads, soup, pastries and other grab-and-go items as well as bottled beverages and complete coffee and tea service. Whether you’re working in the building or just meeting friends, it’s a convenient food venue at Carleton. You can use cash or Schillers for payment.
