LEAVES OF ABSENCE. Faculty who wish to request a sabbatical or other leave of absence for all or part of the academic year 2010-2011 should do so by October 1, 2009. Guidelines for expectations while on a leave and forms are available on the web at: https://apps.carleton.edu/campus/doc/faculty_resources/forms/leaves_of_absence/.
FACULTY DEVELOPMENT GRANTS. Faculty members on regular appointments continuing through 2009-10 are invited to submit proposals for support through several different funds. The deadline to apply for Large and Small Faculty Development Endowment grants and Targeted Opportunity grants is September 11th. Please note that the deadline to apply for Curriculum Development grants has been extended to February 1. Writing Across the Curriculum, summer curricular reform grants through QuIRK, and support from the Visualizing the Liberal Arts grant also have February 1 deadlines. Check the website for guidelines, deadlines and additional information at: https://apps.carleton.edu/campus/doc/faculty_resources/research_and_grants/internal_grants/.
EXTERNALLY FUNDED GRANTS. You should also be thinking about applying for external grants to support your work. Many deadlines for 2010-11 will be in September and October. The Carleton Faculty Grants Committee will give preference for large FDE grants to faculty who have applied for appropriate external funding. You may also be eligible to apply for an External Grant Initiative. These grants provide modest incentives and modest rewards for those who seek significant external funding for their own scholarly or creative work or for institutional funds. See our website at: https://apps.carleton.edu/campus/doc/faculty_resources/research_and_grants/external_grants/for complete guidelines for external grant applications and information on applying for External Grant Initiatives.
