Carleton College offers a comprehensive program of benefits designed to provide a variety of protections for you and your family. The College contributes significantly to the cost of most of these benefits, and you may be required to contribute a portion of your pay to some. Benefits mandated by law, Social Security and Medicare, require significant contributions by both you and the College.
Please view the benefits listed below that are available to you and a brief description of the respective coverage.
As you may know, there have been recent changes at both the Minnesota state level as well as the Federal level that impact employee benefits for same sex spouses. Effective August 1st, Minnesota became the 12th state nationally to recognize same sex marriage. This means that an employee that becomes married to either an opposite sex or same sex spouse can add their spouse to our medical, dental, voluntary life, HSA and/or Health FSA benefits effective on their date of marriage. Note, you must request coverage for your spouse within 30 days of marriage in order to add the spouse due to the qualifying event. Please contact either Melanie (x7142) or Andrea (x5989) with any questions on this or to obtain the necessary information to add a spouse to our benefits.
