Performance: The Garment Solidarity Project

Mon, April 2, 2018 • 2:00pm - 5:00pm (3h) • Gould Library, 4th Floor Lobby

Garment Solidarity

The Garment Solidarity Project expresses solidarity with garment workers in Bangladesh and around the world through the act of sewing clothes for the women who sew our clothes.  By sewing the common clothing of Bangladeshi garment workers, the shalwar kameez, in public, the “making” process embeds questions about how our clothes are made, into the clothes themselves. With this act, artist Rachel Breen hopes to raise critical questions about how our clothes are made and act in solidarity with these workers.
