The Smallest Biggest Landscapes

Fri, November 6, 2020 • Peripatetic Gallery, Gould Library Lobby

Drawing club

The Carleton Drawing Club (started in 2017) welcomes all levels of experience and offers structure and community for drawing. This exhibit is the culmination of a focus on drawing landscapes during fall term 2020. We are gaining clarity through simplicity in many ways in the COVID era. What can be found in the moments of a less hurried life? The work in this exhibit was built off weekly drawing sessions in various locations around campus that offered quiet creativity — an opportunity to observe our surroundings, record what we see, and calm the mind. Translating that effort into the miniature and mobile character of the Peripatetic Gallery urged us to think even more about how to illustrate this contemplative and deliberate way of looking and being in the world.
