Land Line: Drawings by Eleanor Jensen

Mon, April 5, 2021 • Gould Library

 Circle Detail, Eleanor Jensen

My studio practice revolves around drawing from observation, distilling ideas, and examining how a place can be translated into an abstract image. I experiment with the repetition of a simple line and how it can generate relationships. My work often references specific elements of ways we study the natural world, as well as broader concepts. In these circle drawings, I think about the incremental growth of tree rings, in addition to how we gradually increase the knowledge of our local area, building up that awareness through curiosity and time.
