Annual Off-Campus Studies Photo Contest Winners

Wed, May 15, 2019 • Gould Library, 4th Floor Lobby

OCS

Through Carleton’s extensive off-campus study, fellowship, and internship programs, students are immersed in other places and cultures, forge lifelong friendships, and find inspiration in many forms. Many extend off-campus field research into senior comps when they return to campus. Others submit summer grant proposals and conduct related research inspired by their experiences.

During the 2017-2018 academic year, 389 students (19% of the student body) participated in off-campus studies, some multiple times. These students enrolled in 90 different programs in 52 different countries. Others volunteered, worked as interns, and conducted independent research in numerous domestic and international locations. Twenty-one Carleton faculty members led or taught off-campus studies programs.

The photographs in this exhibit were selected from over 219
entries. Together they represent a sampling of the sights, colors, textures, and character of students’ off-campus journeys.
