Clubs You Didn't Know We Had at Carleton

They are the calm amid the circus-like chaos of the Activities Fair.  Two Carls, John-Michael McGrath ’12 and Kate Dorwart ’12 stand at one of the activity booths, arrayed with croquet mallets, bocce balls, and a shield with the motto Semper ubi sububi.

They’re promoting a student club that is brand new this year: the Carleton Lawn Sports Society.  The Society grew out of the Carleton Croquet Club, whose participation had been fizzling last year.  John and Kate mean to revitalize it and expand its selection of sports to bocce, croquet, and badminton.

The Carleton Lawn Sports Society is about far more than sports, though.  It’s a way of life.  Says Kate, “It’s all about classy living at Carleton.”

And their Latin motto?  It says, “Always wear underpants.”  Advice to live by.
