The Fall Recruiting Showcase is a great networking event that provides students with the opportunity to connect with numerous key employers in a relaxed, low-stakes professional environment.  Whether you're interested in pursuing a career in business or perhaps you’re still exploring potential career paths, this event is for you!  The Showcase will feature employers representing a wide-range of job fields, providing students the opportunity to learn about different employers and how they can apply their liberal arts education to the work world.  The event will kick off with a large group session in which each participating employer will provide a brief presentation “pitch”, highlighting specifics pertaining to their company’s brand, mission and values, and job or internship opportunities they have. This brief presentation format is a great way for students to get an overview of different companies, explore career opportunities, and make connections with employers.

Following the employer presentations, students are invited to learn more about a specific company/industry or establishing connections with recruiters in the Tomson Atrium.  Employers will be stationed at tables set up around the Atrium waiting to speak with students directly either one-on-one or in smaller groups.

How to Prepare to Get the Most Out of the Event:

  • Before the program, spend a little time conducting basic research about each company that you’re interested in so you can articulate why you’re drawn to their brand and can ask focused and specific questions the day of the event. Representatives will be impressed by your initiative.
  • Prepare a 60-90 second pitch about you, your interest in the organization, and how your experiences relate to them.
  • Bring a few copies of your resume. Although this isn't a traditional career fair, it is always best to be prepared to showcase your experiences in a brief summary (i.e., your resume)
  • Looking for assistance with developing your pitch or updating your resume?  Nervous about making an excellent first impression with the recruiter? Don't worry, the Career Center is here to help!  We highly encourage you to make an appointment with a Career Counselor to discuss ways you can stand out.  Simply make an appointment through the Tunnel or stop by our office, M-F between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
