Minnesota Alliance With Youth is recruiting Carls interested in becoming AmeriCorps Promise Fellows and Vistas.
Since 1997, Minnesota Alliance With Youth has been working with young people, their schools, and communities to ensure that innovative approaches inspire academic and civic engagement. In 1999, the Alliance launched the AmeriCorps Promise Fellow program which has become a statewide initiative to support students to get on track or stay on track to graduate from high school.
The Alliance catalyzes communities, to help all Minnesota youth graduate from high school with plans for ongoing success in school, work, and life.
Promise Fellows serve full time (40 hours per week) for 11 months supporting youth in grades 6-10.

What Will You Do?
Promise Fellows support students before, during and after school at traditional middle and high schools, community based organizations and nonprofit organizations. Your service includes providing direct support to thirty students:
Attendance: Provide attendance coaching, call home if students miss class, organize field trips or other special events to make learning and being at school more engaging and relevant
Engagement: Coordinate lunchtime mentoring programs, promote youth leadership development through a student-led peer mediation program, connect youth with community and civic opportunities, provide avenues for increased youth engagement in school and the broader community
Course Performance: Provide before, during and after school academic support for individuals and small groups, connect after school service-learning projects with classroom instruction, connect students with a mentor or tutor, incorporate math/reading games into after school programming
What Benefits Will You Receive?
Living stipend – $1,148 per month
Education Award - $5,920 upon successful completion of service
