Green Space: Climate Leadership Awards

April 6, 2012
By Amber Kim

Carleton is a finalist for the national 2012 Climate Leadership Awards. Last fall, Carleton applied for the award and became a finalist last term along with three other schools: Luther, Allegheny, and Spelman in the Baccalaureate College category.  Each finalist had to produce a short video highlighting a campus sustainability initiative with the video that would be voted for online. The school with the most votes advances as winner. The winning video will be featured on multiple media platforms such as national conferences, the Huffington Post, and a National Geographic energy blog. Carleton’s video focused on our energy initiatives highlighting our second wind turbine and the residential energy audits that took place last term.

This is not only a great opportunity for Carleton to get more involved with sustainability in higher education but also for colleges and universities to encourage, share ideas and learn from each other.

The voting period goes until April 15th so everyone should vote for Carleton and spread the word. Also  check out all of the other cool sustainability initiatives happening at other colleges. The videos can be found on the Planet Forward website at:
