Creating Memorable College Events

Events are a visible means of communicating the intellectual and social vibrancy of Carleton College in order to support and promote the admissions and fundraising goals of the institution.  This office produces events which:   

  • Complement the educational mission of the college by bringing distinguished speakers to campus for lectures and discussions around significant topics.
  • Commemorate academic accomplishments through ceremonies and other traditional occasions such as Opening Convocation, Honors Convocation, Employee Recognition Celebration, Commencement, and Inaugurations.
  • Celebrate significant moments in the college’s history with ground breakings, building dedications, and donor recognition events.
  • Connect people to Carleton and promote cultivation of the college's various constituencies with gatherings such as Family Weekend and the annual holiday open house for Northfield community leaders, as well as by serving local organizations that hold events on campus, coordinating weddings and receptions on campus, and facilitating arrangements for major fundraising campaign events.

In addition to events that enhance the intellectual and social life of the college, and events that showcase the rich academic nature of the college's faculty and students, we also handle the logistics for the quarterly Board of Trustees meetings and other events for the President’s office.  Events staff also manage the Alumni Guest House.
