Update on Residence Hall Construction

The Carleton facilities office is in the midst of two major projects: the Arts Union, located at the site of the former Northfield middle school, and two new residence halls. While the Arts Union is on hold until the Board of Trustees approves moving into the next phase to design construction documents, the residence halls project is moving full steam ahead.

Window, roof truss, and exterior brick installation has begun, and the roofs will begin appearing this month. Here are the progress reports for the individual buildings: 

Cassat Hall (East Building)

  • Exterior concrete wall (Insulated Concrete Forms) installation is complete
  • Concrete floor (topping slab) installation is complete on the basement, 1st floor, and 2nd floor
  • Interior framing is complete on the 1st floor and has begun on the 2nd floor
  • Mechanical and electrical rough-ins are ongoing – currently working on the 3rd floor penetrations
  • Roof truss installation is complete.
  • Roof installation will begin around February 1

Memorial Hall (West Building)

  • Exterior structure (ICF walls and concrete plank) is complete through the 3rd floor
  • Concrete floor (topping slab) installation is complete on the basement, 1st floor, and 2nd floor
  • Mechanical and electrical rough-ins are ongoing – currently working on the 3rd floor
  • Roof truss installation has begun
  • Roof installation will begin in the middle of February
