The Society for the Anthropology of Consciousness is proud to be partnering with and supporting BWITI: A SCHOOL OF LIFE, a 4-part interactive webinar series about Gabonese culture and the spiritual practice of Bwiti!

Starting November 8, 2020, join us for this window into the beautiful and profound traditional uses of iboga, and how 'the sacred wood' serves as not only a medicine, but a way of life in Gabon.

This is part of our organization's emerging focus on African Identity, Spirituality, Consciousness, & the Plight of the Diaspora. Starting with this series, and our upcoming events for the American Anthropological Association's 'Raising Our Voices' event (see attached), and culminating with a conference in 2022 in partnership with the Black Studies & Anthropology departments at Mizzou, we will be exploring the ways African spirituality has been simultaneously coopted AND marginalized by a systemically embedded anti-Black consciousness which has slowed the discourse on human equity and agency and reinforced the social and material capital hoarded by institutions of status quo. There can be no true ascension while the Motherland suffers. The medicine is only for recreational white enlightenment cosplay if we do not listen, truly listen, to its teachings. Stay tuned and stay focused.
Use the discount code ANTHRO20 for $20 off the basic registration.
