Convocation with Helen Forsythe
Helen Forsythe is an experienced activist and organizer based in Northfield, working on a variety of causes including fighting climate change, building a local, sustainable economy and helping nurture youth activism. Helen has spearheaded efforts to develop a green, sustainable economy in Northfield by founding the worker cooperative Northfield Curbside Composting, and is a board member of the community-owned Just Food Co-op. She has also been a leader with the Young People’s Action Coalition, a youth-run multi-issue group based in Minneapolis organizing middle and high school students to take action on the issues that matter to them.
Helen comes to Carleton to share her philosophy behind her work, ideas about building up efforts in local communities, and strategies in organizing for the longer-term without burning out.
