Edwin L. Weisle lecture, presented by Stuart Comer '90, Curator of Film at the Tate Modern in London.

Comer will address new strategies for a greater role for artists' moving image work within the museum, moving beyond white cube and black box cliches to encourage a more dynamic experience with the architecture of the institution and the histories it frames. The talk will address the challenges facing the preservation and exhibition of analogue film and video and the urgent need to better situate histories of experimental film, media and performance within the visual art context. It will investigate those strange bedfellows—cinema and the museum—to ask how we might better equip ourselves to accommodate the radically changing nature of images.
