Kate Clark Talk

Thu, October 18, 2018 • 7:00pm - 8:00pm (1h) • Boliou 161

Visiting artist and Boliou Alum Kate Clark will present a talk about her work this Thursday, October 18 at 7 pm in Boliou 161.

All studio art majors and those thinking about majoring are strongly encouraged to attend.

Kate describes her practice as 'Active Art,' a term she uses to describe the way in which she blurs the line among interaction, participation, collaboration, and performance. At times she is the active participant, at other times the viewer is called upon to take on that role. 'Through making this type of work I hope to create a heightened sense of awareness for myself and for those that choose to participate.'

Kate Clark (b. 1983) is a multimedia sculptor who grew up in Cold Spring, Minnesota. She received an M.F.A in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts from the University of Washington in Seattle (2011). She received a B.A. in Studio Art from Carleton (2006). In the time between her degrees, Kate spent two years as an artist-in-resident and staff member at Franconia Sculpture Park, a non-profit arts organization that supports emerging artists. She is currently working and teaching in the Twin Cities.
