Kelly Connole, Associate Professor of Art, has been awarded a 2014 McKnight Artist Fellowship for Ceramic Artists, funded by The McKnight Foundation and administered by Northern Clay Center. The award is designed to strengthen and enhance Minnesota’s artistic community, as well as significantly advance the work of Minnesota ceramic artists whose work is of exceptional artistic merit, who have already proven their abilities, and are at a career stage that is beyond emerging.

Alison M. Kettering, William R. Kenan Jr., Professor of Art History, presented a paper and led a workshop at the quadrennial conference of Historians of Netherlandish Art in Boston, June 5-7, 2014. The paper was titled “Confronting Rembrandt’s Slaughtered Ox in the Louvre,” and the workshop focused on the meanings and associations of objects in 17th-century Dutch genre paintings.
