Zixue Tai is an Associate Professor in the School of Journalism and Media. Born and raised in China, he has an Associate Degree in general education and a Master's degree in international journalism from two Chinese universities. He was an educator and a researcher at Shanghai International Studies University prior to pursuing graduate studies in the United States. He has a Master's of Software Systems from the University of St. Thomas (Minnesota) and a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the University of Minnesota. His primary area of research pertains to the various aspects of the sociopolicultural ramifications of the blossoming new media sector in China.

He teaches courses in multimedia and interactive game development, global communication, telecommunications policy and regulation, and other courses examining the interplay of new media and society. Additionally, he also regularly teaches graduate seminars on mass communication theory and research and supervises graduate students. Prior to joining the University of Kentucky, Tai also taught at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and at Shanghai International Studies University.
