  • We’re working to protect bees from toxic chemicals: This winter, we’ve been campaigning to convince states to ban a class of insecticide called neonicotinoids (neonics) that is 6,000 times more toxic than DDT. Beekeepers report they’re losing on average of 30% of all honeybee colonies each winter. It’s time to act now. Without bees, we don’t have food.
  • We’re doing our part to defend our current environmental protections:  Because 2017 brought some of the worst climate change-fueled extreme weather events we’ve ever seen and global warming continues to threaten our health and planet, we need to defeat any legislative attacks on our environmental protections from the Trump Administration. We are campaigning to get 51 senators to vote with us in order to protect our bedrock environmental laws such as the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts.
  • We’re suing big polluters: Big oil and chemical companies often get away with dumping waste into our air and water. Just last year in Minnesota alone, 72 facilities allegedly violated the Clean Water Act. With Scott Pruitt running the EPA, we know we can’t rely on the government to enforce our environmental laws. So that’s why we’re working with our partners to file citizen lawsuits and hold these big companies accountable for their violations.

Could you see yourself working to tackle these issues? Apply to Canvass Direct or visit www.SummerJobsThatMatter.org today! We are looking for smart, motivated students who want to get their hands dirty and make a real impact on some of the most critical issues facing our society.
