The Amgen Foundation has a wonderful program that provides approximately 60 undergraduates the chance to do summer research at one of two leading research universities in Japan. Each host institution has its own application process. You can apply to participate at as many host institutions as you are interested in. Undergraduates worldwide are eligible to apply. To apply you demonstrate a good working knowledge of English, a college sophomore or junior, have a GPA of 3.2 or higher, and be interested in a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in science. Applicants who are interested in pursuing an M.D. may also be considered provided that they demonstrate a strong interest in a research-oriented career.
