LOCATION CHANGE: CAMS Comps Symposium Winter 2018

Sat, January 20, 2018 • 9:00am - 12:00pm (3h) • Weitz Center M215 Applebaum Recital Hall

CAMS Seniors are presenting their Comps projects, each followed by a short Q&A.

The following seniors will be presenting:

  • 9:00 am - Amirah Ellison
  • 9:30 am - Audrey Kan will present An Interrogation (of imbalanced power dynamics), a short film that centers the problems that arise from uneven power dynamics in play between two individuals as well as between an individual and an institution. This short film emphasizes attempts to create suspense and fear through dialogue and performance and a focus of film elements beyond what is visually represented.
  • 10:00 am - Griffin Bolte presents Must Cop, a screenplay.  Must Cop is a fictional narrative that explores the powerful influence of sneaker culture. The story follows thirteen-year-old Graham on a mission to obtain a $300 pair of Air Jordans, hoping that the purchase will give him material confidence among his wealthy friends. The project is supposed to connect with all the sneakerheads out there, but it also aims to draw attention to the theoretical and historical relationships that sneakers have with class, gender, and violence.
    • 10:30 am - coffee break
  • 10:45 am - Brendan Friesen presents Affinity, a short fiction film about a girl arriving on her first day of college. When she doesn't connect with her roommate, she goes out to look for people who understand her, only to find that those who do are part of something sinister.
  • 11:15 am - Harrison Keithahn
