Space Material; Immaterial Place: Short Films Screening and Talk with filmmaker Jeremy Moss

Jeremy Moss creates moving image works that explore and interrogate bodies, identities and places shaped by rigid boundaries and porous peripheries.  Trained in narrative filmmaking, his work has grown increasingly personal, lyrical, and structural.  Recent and past films, including "The Blue Record" (2013), "That Dizzying Crest" (2013), "The Sight" (2012), "Chroma" (2012), "Those Inescapable Slivers of Celluloid" (2011), "Gods of Light, Idols of Mud" (2007), and "Muzzle" (2006) have exhibited widely at festivals and venues throughout the globe, including Edinburgh, Chicago Underground, Brooklyn, Crossroads, Cinequest, Athens, Maryland and Anthology Film Archive in New York.  He teaches production, history and theory at Franklin & Marshall College.

We will be screening several of Jeremy's works including:

  • Three films in collaboration with dancer/choreographer Pamela Vail:  "(un)tethered"; "That Dizzying Crest"; "Chroma"
  • "The Blue Record", an essay film
  • Two landscape films:  "The Sight" and "Those Inescapable Slivers of Celluloid"
  • and, possible a sneak peak of Moss' newest work; "Cicatrix"
