What wakes us up: Networked circadian clocks in the brain.
Erick Herzog, professor of Biology & Neuroscience at Washington University in St. Louis, MO is an invited guest speak for the Cannon Callosum Colloquium. His talk will address daily rhythms in gene expression and neuronal excitability in the mammalian brain. Using in vivo and in vitro preparations, we have learned about the mechanisms that generate and coordinate these cellular and molecular events to produce daily rhythms in physiology and behavior like sleep-wake and feeding-fasting.
