Annual Inclusivity in the Chemistry Department Discussion

Fri, May 17, 2019 • 3:30pm - 4:30pm (1h) • Old Music Hall 103

All Chemistry majors, faculty, and staff are invited to share ideas about how to best promote inclusivity within the Chemistry Department (in classes, labs, group work, etc.). We would like to ask everyone to reflect on two questions that we will discuss, to help us improve as a department:

  1. What actions should the department take to promote a sense of inclusion for everyone in labs, group work, inside and outside of formal class time, etc.?
  2. What kinds of actions or strategies have you taken to promote inclusive interactions or to defuse inappropriate behaviors that you have witnessed (need not be in Chemistry)?

We envision this as a free-ranging discussion, taking place both in small groups and all together, and we hope to come away with positive suggestions!

The discussion will be at 3:30 pm on Friday, May 17 in Old Music 103. Appetizers will be provided.

If you can’t attend the discussion, but have thoughts, comments, questions, or concerns that you would like to share, please feel free to email them to Deborah or Dani, or write them on a piece of paper and slide them under their office doors.
