Computer simulations allow us to understand and characterize at the molecular level how small gas molecules behave within the pores of zeolites (molecular sieves). The goal of these studies is to provide a basic understanding of the use of zeolites as filters to remove CO2 from the atmosphere. Some cationic zeolites act selectively, absorbing carbon dioxide but no other gases. In this talk, I will share how simulations are allowing us to gather microscopic insight into this interesting behavior.
