CS Tea Talk Series

Tue, April 4, 2017 • 4:00pm - 5:00pm (1h) • CMC 209

A lot of what 'everyone knows' about network protocols is not actually true. A lot of network books present the field as 'memorize the details of what is currently deployed and assume it all makes sense'. Indeed, the only way to understand it is to see the history of how we got here. This talk will cover such topics as the story behind the Ethernet spanning tree and why we need both IP and Ethernet.
